Kyoto Obubu's Tamaryokucha

came across a stash of obubu tea club samplers that we had lost in the moves, so I am enjoying a cup of tamaryokucha.

very full bodied, broth-like texture. not for people who aren't umami-pilled. thankfully, the oceanic qualities of Japanese teas are one of the reasons I love them so much! aftertaste is lingering

it's lost a lot of the vibrancy of color due to being two years old, but still tasted fresh. 50 second first infusion at 70*C, per the recommendation of the seller. Frankly might try 40 seconds next time.

gods I cannot wait to get a kyusu again.

Jin Xuan

I always forget just how much jin xuan (milk oolong) absolutely fucks even though it is one of my favorite teas. The people I am dog sitting for have a well stocked tea cabinet, so I am getting absolutely flavor blasted with a gorgeous gaiwan full of the butteriest aroma since ghee. I am prepared to be over caffeinated because I cannot, will not stop.

I can't wait to sip my personal tea collection down so I can get back into buying loose leaf again...
